U Line
Construction of the U Line began in 2007. It was designed as a light rail line serving the city of Uijeongbu, north of Seoul.

The line opened on July 1, 2012, from Balgok to Tapseok. It is marked orange on maps.

There has been no extensions built or proposed since the line's opening.

The line operated at a continuous loss in the years after opening. The previous owner/operator, Uijeongbu Light Rail Transit Company, filed for bankruptcy in late 2016. On May 1, 2019, operations were handed over to a new Uijeongbu LRT Company.
A full ride of the line takes around 20 minutes.
All trains travel between Balgok and Tapseok.

The current line is 11.2 km (7 mi) long. All stations feature screen doors.

All track is on the right-hand side.

There is a single depot at Songsan.

The line is autonomous and completely driverless, thanks to a system of ATO, ATS, and ATP systems.

The line was incorporated into the unified metropolitan fare system on December 6, 2014. However, if one transfers from Line 1 via Hoeryong Station, a flat 300 won (25 cents) charge is added on top of the base fare.
