U Line

Véhicule Automatique Léger (VAL) 208
The U line uses VAL 208 trains built by Siemens. 15 trains were built, numbered U01~U15.
The VAL trains were first designed in the 1980s by Matra for the Lille Metro in France. Since then, VAL trains have found themselves running in lines in Paris, Toulouse, and Rennes. Trains have also gone to several lines outside France, including Turin, Taipei, and Chicago O'Hare International Airport's Transit System.
The VAL 208s have been built since 2000, succeding the VAL 206 trains. The number 208 comes from its width, 208 cm.
The trains on the U Line are the only VAL trains in the world to feature air conditioning.
The trains are primarily made of plastic, with three sets of doors per car. These trains run on rubber tires. In the interior, there are LED display signs on the front and back of each car. Each car is separated by a glass door.
These trains are powered by IBGT-Chopper units by Alstom. Power is collected via third rail.
All trains are two cars long, labeled UAXX and UBXX. Both cars are powered.
