Korail Class 351000 (Formerly 2030)

Before reading this section, it is recommended to read the "Brief Intro to Numbering" section on the Trains page.

First Generation

The Korail Class 351000 trains were originally introduced as Class 2030 trains from 1993 to 1999. They were identical to the Class 341000 trains.

The design for the first generation is the "납작이" (flat-face) design shared with the first generation Class 341000 and 311000 trains. These trains came with paper roll destination signs, and a livery of orange and red stripes.

These trains use Toshiba VVVF-GTO propulsion systems.

Form 2003 to 2005, the trains were retrofitted with fire-resistant interiors, and LED destination signs. They also received the current yellow and blue livery.

From July 2009 to February 2012, all trains were equipped with automatic gangways.

The trains were renumbered to 351x01~351x22 in 2011. The car numbering also changed, with equipment remaining the same:

3510XX-Tc

3511XX-M

3512XX-M'

3513XX-T

3514XX-M'

3515XX-Tc

Trains 351x01~351x08, 351x10, 351x13, 351x15, 351x16, and 351x19 have been retrofitted with Toshiba IGBT systems.

Train 351x11 has had its air-powered door motors replaced with electric ones.

All trains are currently being retrofitted with LED headlamps.

Second Generation

The second generation was built in 2003 by Rotem. Six trains were built, numbered 2x82~2x87. All trains were six cars long.

These trains follow the "동글이" (round face) design shared with the second generation Class 311000 and 341000 trains. These trains do feature the larger door windows and one-piece side windows as the Class 311000 trains have.

All trains were initially delivered in the orange and red livery, with paper roll destination signs. They followed the same initial six-car numbering as the first generation.

All trains were delivered with the same Toshiba VVVF-GTO propulsion systems as the first generation.

Trains 351x23, 351x24, 351x26, and 351x28 have been retrofitted with electric door motors.

Third Generation

The third generation of trains were built from 2011 to 2014 by Hyundai Rotem. 15 trains were built, all six cars long. They were numbered under the current numbering system, 351x29~351x43.

These trains follow the "뱀눈이" design with the third generation Class 311000 trains. Improvements included refurbished interiors, LED destination signs, electric door motors, and newer Toshiba VVVF-IGBT propulsion systems. All trains were delivered with the current yellow and blue livery.

Trains 351x34~351x40 originally used two Class 321000 cars per train, as trains on the Jungang Line were shortened for reduced service. However, when trains there were extended again, the trains were taken out of service to replace the Class 321000 cars. They returned with newly built cars in 2014. Suin Line trains 351x69~351x72 ran on the Bundang Line while those trains were out of service.

Train 351x41 is temporarily running on the Suin Line.

Trains 351x41~351x43 were delivered with LED headlamps.

Fourth Generation

The fourth generation of trains were built in 2017 by Hyundai Rotem. Four trains were built for the Bundang Line, numbered 351x73~351x76. All trains are six cars long.

These trains share the "삼눈이" design from the fourth generation Class 311000 series trains. As a result, they feature very minor improvements from the previous generation, such as a third driving light, single-arm pantographs, and CCTV cameras.
